...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CST SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Periodic mixed precipitation, mainly light but possibly
including some ice, through mid afternoon before a transition to
snow that could be briefly heavy. Ice accumulation up to one
tenth of an inch is possible with sleet accumulation possible
too. Snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches. Northeast winds will
gust as high as 40 mph today and early this evening, and
combined with the winter precipitation may cause further
impacts, especially reduced visibility in snow late this
afternoon and this evening.
* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.
* WHEN...Through 3 AM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be impacted, at times significantly,
especially later this afternoon into the evening with
accumulating snow. With the gusty winds, some power outages and
minor tree damage are possible due to the combination of ice and
wind. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility
later this afternoon and evening.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
