DISCUSSION:

A strong weather system will affect the area mid-late Friday
afternoon through Saturday, with the highest potential impacts
from winter weather being later Friday and Friday night. During
that time accumulating snow of several inches is expected,
especially along and north of I-88. For along and south of I-80,
snow will transition to a period of sleet and freezing rain Friday
evening. Light icing along with snow of a couple inches are
forecast south of I-80.

On Saturday, strong west winds will gust to 40 to 45 mph. These
winds will lead to potential for blowing snow in open areas of
mainly north central Illinois, as well as lakeshore flooding for
portions of northwest Indiana. In addition, Saturday could have
some spotty wintry precipitation including freezing drizzle and
snow showers.

The coldest air mass of the season will move into the region
Saturday night and persist through Tuesday, with subzero wind
chills through much of the period, even possibly as cold as -15
to -20 Sunday and Monday mornings.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
