This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Limited Snow Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Light snow is expected to develop across north central Illinois
this evening and spread east through the Interstate 57 corridor
overnight. Minor snow accumulations are expected for the Thursday
morning commute, especially on colder surfaces, including
possibly on untreated, elevated, or less heavily traveled roads.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Limited Snow Risk.
Limited Ice Accumulation Risk at night south of I-80.
Friday...
Elevated Snow Risk.
Limited Ice Accumulation Risk in the morning south of I-80.
DISCUSSION:
A slow moving storm system will bring a long duration of light to
occasionally moderate precipitation Thursday through early
Saturday. Most of the precipitation will be in the form of wet
snow, but rain will be possible during the daylight hours of
Thursday and Friday. Brief spotty freezing rain and light ice
accumulations are also possible late Thursday night into Friday
morning mainly south of the Kankakee River.
Light snow accumulations are expected in many areas for the
Friday morning commute, again mainly on colder surfaces, including
possibly on untreated, elevated, or less heavily traveled roads.
As the storm system slowly pulls east of the area later Friday
into early Saturday, a period of moderate snow may produce a few
to several additional inches of snowfall accumulation for portions
of northern Illinois, and associated travel impacts.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
