…ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY…

  • WHAT…Significant icing expected due to sleet and freezing rain. Sleet accumulations of up to 1 inch, along with ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch expected.

  • WHERE…Winnebago…Boone…Ogle and Lee counties.

  • WHEN…through 6 AM CST Wednesday.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Isolated power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

An Ice Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice accumulation will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Snapped power lines and falling tree branches are also possible.
