…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT…

  • WHAT…Snow with some mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

  • WHERE…McHenry and Lake Counties.

  • WHEN…Until midnight CST Tuesday night.

  • IMPACTS…Strong westerly winds are expected to develop this afternoon and continue tonight. These strong winds may result in blowing snow and may also increase the threat of power outages, especially for areas that do see ice accumulations tonight and Tuesday morning.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult in places. The hazardous conditions are likely to impact the morning commute, and the Tuesday evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
