This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE…Tonight.

Weather hazards expected…

Limited Excessive cold Risk.

DISCUSSION…

Temperatures will fall into the single digits overnight, mainly over far northern IL.

Flooding will continue along portions of the Illinois, Pecatonica, and Rock rivers.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday.

Thursday…

Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

Saturday…

Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

Sunday through Tuesday…

Elevated Excessive Cold Risk. Limited, localized flooding risk

due to river ice.

DISCUSSION:

Bitterly cold air will return to the region Saturday night and persist into early next week.

These very cold temperatures will create favorable conditions for river ice formation. Increased river ice may cause ice jams with little notice, especially along the Rock, Fox, and Kankakee Rivers.
