…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM CST TUESDAY…

  • WHAT…Snow and freezing rain expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with the highest amounts near the Wisconsin state line. Ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch possible tonight, mainly over southern portions of the counties.

  • WHERE…Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake IL and Ogle Counties.

  • WHEN…From 6 PM this evening to 4 PM CST Tuesday.

  • IMPACTS…Strong westerly winds are expected to develop late Tuesday and continue Tuesday night. These strong winds may result in areas of blowing snow and may also increase the threat of power outages, especially for areas that see the more significant ice accumulations.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
