DISCUSSION:
The potential exists for a period of mixed freezing rain and sleet across parts of the area Tuesday night, and again Wednesday night. Ice accumulations up to around one quarter of inch are possible Tuesday night, with lighter ice accumulations Wednesday night. This would lead to slippery and locally hazardous travel conditions. Localized amounts across the I-80 to I-88 corridor may be higher if a wetter storm track appears favorable, so stay tuned to the forecast.
The favored corridor for ice accumulation is north and west of a line from Livingston County to Valparaiso Tuesday night, and mostly north and west of a Mendota to Chicago line Wednesday night.
The threat for localized ice jam flooding will continue on area rivers.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
