This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

Weather hazards expected…
Limited Excessive cold Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Wind chill values could be as cold as 5 to 10 below zero in portions of northern Illinois late tonight.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday…
Significant Excessive Cold Risk at night.
Friday…
Significant Excessive Cold Risk in the morning. Limited Snow Risk in the afternoon and evening.
Saturday…
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
Sunday through Monday…
Limited Excessive Cold Risk. Elevated Snow Risk Sunday night through Monday.
Tuesday…
Significant Excessive Cold Risk at night.
In addition, with the extended duration of very cold temperatures expected, there is an increasing risk for ice jams on area rivers.
DISCUSSION:
A strong Arctic front passage on Thursday will result in wind chills of 20 to 35 below zero late Thursday night through Friday morning. Areas of blowing snow are possible in portions of northern Illinois Thursday afternoon and evening.
Light snow accumulations are possible Friday afternoon and evening along with continued very cold temperatures.
Potentially significant snow accumulations are possible Sunday night through Monday. This will be followed by another shot of bitterly cold temperatures and potentially dangerously cold wind chills mid next week.
