DISCUSSION…
A storm system will bring a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain to much of the area today and tonight. Ice accumulations are expected over much of the area late this morning into this evening and will likely result in travel impacts, especially to the evening commute in northern Illinois. Snow accumulations are expected this afternoon and tonight across northwest portions of the forecast area.

Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
