This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected…

Elevated Excessive Cold Risk this morning.  Significant Snow Risk tonight.

DISCUSSION…

Wind chills as low as 25 below zero are being observed this  morning in north and northwest Illinois.
This evening, a quick moving winter storm will enter the area  and bring a period of heavy snow overnight. Toward the  Wisconsin state line, total snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches  are expected. Farther south to the I-80 corridor, totals of 3  to 6 inches are expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Monday through Saturday.

Monday…

Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.  Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk.  Limited Snow Risk.

Tuesday…

Extreme Excessive Cold Risk.  Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.

Wednesday and Thursday…

Extreme Excessive Cold Risk.

Friday and Saturday…

Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Heavy snow will diminish Monday morning but a mixture of light  snow and drizzle or freezing drizzle is expected to continue  through Monday afternoon.
Potentially life threatening cold temperatures are expected by  midweek, especially from late Tuesday through early Thursday.

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
