This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Limited Thunderstorm Risk. Significant Ice accumulation Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Freezing rain will develop across northwest Illinois late this afternoon and spread across areas north of a Pontiac to Kankakee to Valparaiso line this evening. Total ice accumulations of two to four tenths are expected along and northwest of a Streator to Morris to Joliet to downtown Chicago line. Some sleet or snow may mix with the freezing rain through early evening. The freezing rain will slowly transition to rain along the Interstate 80 corridor early Wednesday morning with light freezing drizzle or light freezing rain possible across far northern Illinois through sunrise Wednesday morning.
There will also be a chance of thunderstorms this evening.
River flooding will continue along portions of the Kankakee… Rock and Vermilion Rivers along with the potential for ice jam flooding on area rivers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Wednesday through Monday.
Wednesday Night…
Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk.
Thursday…
Limited Excessive Cold Risk. Limited Ice Accumulation Risk.
Friday and Saturday…
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
River flooding will continue along portions of the Kankakee… Rock and Vermilion Rivers and will be possible along portions of the Illinois and Iroquois Rivers.
