This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected…

The threat for localized ice jam flooding will continue on area rivers.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday…

Limited Fog Risk. Limited Ice Accumulation Risk in the morning or early afternoon.

Sunday…

Elevated Fog Risk

Thursday night…

Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Low clouds and fog are expected to develop across the region on Saturday, with the potential for drizzle. While air temperatures will rise above freezing, cold ground due to recent sub-zero weather and a deep snow pack in some areas will result in any drizzle falling as freezing drizzle. Freezing drizzle may result in slippery roads and sidewalks Saturday afternoon or Saturday evening, mainly on untreated surfaces.

The combination of warming temperatures, snowmelt, and additional rainfall raises the threat for breakup ice jams and river rises early next week.

Several periods of wintry precipitation are possible Tuesday through Thursday.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
