This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Limited Excessive cold Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Morning temperatures will start out between zero and 5 above in many areas, with wind chills between zero and ten below.
The threat for localized ice jam flooding will continue on area rivers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Saturday through Thursday.
Saturday…
Limited Fog Risk. Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk.
Thursday…
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Low clouds and fog are expected to develop across the region on Saturday, with the potential for drizzle. While air temperatures will rise above freezing, cold ground due to recent sub-zero weather and a deep snow pack in some areas will result in any drizzle falling as freezing drizzle. Freezing drizzle may result in slippery roads and sidewalks Saturday and Saturday evening.
The combination of warming temperatures, snowmelt, and additional rainfall raises the threat for breakup ice jams and river rises early next week.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
