This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated: Limited hail risk...up to 1 inch in diameter. Elevated damaging wind risk...up to 65 mph. Limited Tornado risk. Elevated Flooding Risk. Limited Excessive heat Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, mainly southeast of a Chicago to Peru line. Conditions appear favorable for some of the storms to become severe, with the primary risk being locally damaging winds, though isolated large hail and perhaps a brief tornado cannot totally be ruled out. Thunderstorms are expected to develop between 2 and 4 pm and gradually move eastward, exiting northwest Indiana and east central Illinois by mid evening. There is a chance that thunderstorms could repeatedly move over the same area this afternoon and evening well south of I-80, result in a risk of heavy rainfall and perhaps some localized flooding.

Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk. Limited Flooding Risk.
Thursday through Sunday…
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Another round of strong to severe storms and heavy rain will be possible Tuesday, mainly south of Interstate 80.
