The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
Flood Advisory for… Southern Lake County in northeastern Illinois… De Kalb County in north central Illinois… Kane County in northeastern Illinois… Southeastern McHenry County in northeastern Illinois… DuPage County in northeastern Illinois… Cook County in northeastern Illinois…
Until 600 PM CDT
At 302 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of thunderstorms with a history of producing heavy rain due to thunderstorms…moving into the Chicago metro area. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Some locations that will experience flooding include… Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Elgin, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Wheaton, Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Downers Grove and Glenview.
Rainfall of at least one inch with isolated amounts of over two inches are possible over a short period of time.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
