THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Extreme Excessive Cold Risk.
Elevated Snow Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Lake effect snow showers will move across far northeast Illinois
this morning and then into northwest Indiana by this afternoon.
Minor snow accumulations are possible near Lake Michigan. A band
of heavy lake effect snow may move across northeast Porter County
where several inches of snow are possible this afternoon.
A period of light snow will move across areas south of a Sterling
to Joliet to Rensselaer line early this morning where minor snow
accumulations are possible.
Wind chills 20 below zero are possible this morning across north
central Illinois. Wind chills will then drop to 20 below to 30
below zero across the entire area tonight into Monday morning.
Wind chills 30 below to 35 below zero are possible across parts
of northwest and central Illinois.
Localized ice jam flooding will remain a threat on area rivers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.
Monday...
Extreme Excessive Cold Risk.
Tuesday through Friday...
Significant Excessive Cold Risk.
Saturday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Bitterly cold air will be in place through Tuesday with wind chills
20 below to 30 below zero Monday through Tuesday morning. Wind chills
may reach 20 below zero again Thursday and Friday mornings.
Localized ice jam flooding will remain a threat on area rivers.
