THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Elevated Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Snow Risk.
DISCUSSION:
A strong upper level disturbance will bring the potential for
some light snow to mainly far northern Illinois north of the I-90
corridor today. Surface temperatures will rise above freezing
during the day ahead of the approaching system, which will allow for
relatively wet snow or a mix of rain and snow which should not
support significant accumulations. Winds will shift northwest as a
cold front moves through the area late this afternoon into early
evening, bringing much colder air, and turning precipitation back
over to scattered snow showers and flurries tonight. Lake effect
snow showers will be possible near the lake in northwest Indiana.
Northwest winds gusting to or above 30 mph tonight will combine
with temperatures falling into the teens to produce wind chills
around zero by early Tuesday morning.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.
Tuesday...
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Limited Fire Weather Risk.
Wednesday...
Limited Ice Accumulation Risk.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
