DISCUSSION:
Light wintry precipitation is becoming more likely for portions of
northern Illinois on Thursday into Thursday night. This includes
the potential for light ice accumulations in freezing rain and/or
drizzle along with minimal snow and sleet accumulations of under
one inch on grassy/colder surfaces. The greatest area of concern
for a light icy glaze is along and north of Interstate 88, which
could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commute.
There is a diminishing risk for snow on Friday night, followed by
another risk for snow on Sunday. A very cold to bitterly cold air
mass will move into the area on Sunday night, with below to well
below zero wind chills possible Sunday night into Monday morning
and again Monday night into Tuesday.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
