THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

A strong cold front will arrive this morning and will drive
temperatures down through the morning into the teens. Wind chill
values today will to around -5 north and to around 10 south
by mid to late morning with wind gusts to 35 mph possible.
Wind chill values will approach dangerous levels tonight, bottoming
out between -10 and -20.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Friday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
Limited Snow Risk in the evening, mainly north.
Saturday...
Elevated Snow Risk.
Sunday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
Limited Snow Risk.
Monday and Tuesday...
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
Elevated Snow Risk.
Wednesday...
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Much colder conditions will return to start February, with periods
of sub zero wind chills likely. There is a chance for accumulating
snow at times this weekend, with the first possible brief round Friday
evening, and then a longer period of mostly light snow Saturday
afternoon into Sunday. Another round of accumulating snow is possible
Monday afternoon through Monday night and again later Tuesday.

Localized ice jam flooding will remain a threat on area rivers.

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
