...Period of Moderate to Briefly Heavy Snow This Morning...
Snow will increase in intensity during the pre-dawn hours in
northern Illinois, mainly north of Interstate 80. This snow will
spread eastward, persisting at its highest intensity for a few
hours, before tapering to lighter snow by mid to late morning.
Snowfall rates could briefly near one inch per hour, with totals
of one to three inches, and possibly isolated higher.
This includes the Rockford area and Chicago and its northern and
western suburbs.
If traveling early this morning, be prepared for snow covered
roads and temporary sharply reduced visibility. Allow extra travel
time and use caution.
