...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois,
including the following areas, in north central Illinois,
Boone, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In northeast
Illinois, Kane, Lake IL, and McHenry.

* Through Tuesday afternoon.

* Multiple rounds of showers and some thunderstorms are expected
tonight through Tuesday. Widespread rainfall amounts of one and
a half to locally three inches of rain are expected with
isolated higher totals possible.

* The ground remains frozen, therefore much of the rain will
result in rapid runoff. In addition, melting snow will compound
runoff from heavy rainfall. Ice jam break up is also a concern.
Expect rises on area rivers and streams that may result in
flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
