THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Extreme Flooding Risk.
Elevated Fog Risk.
Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Rain and occasional thunderstorms will continue today into
tonight. 1 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen since Monday
in many areas, and additional amounts of 1 to locally 3 inches
are possible through tonight. This will cause flooding, and
significant sharp rises on most area rivers and creeks. A cold
front will move across the area tonight, and rain may turn to
freezing rain for a time behind the front, or may mix with sleet
or snow briefly before ending. Some ice accumulation and glazing
is possible overnight.
Many area rivers will go into flood today or tonight.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.
Wednesday...
Limited Ice Accumulation Risk.
Limited Snow or Sleet Risk.
Thursday...
Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk.
Friday...
Limited Ice Accumulation Risk.
DISCUSSION:
A couple of periods of light freezing rain or sleet are
possible Wednesday night into early Thursday, and Thursday night
into early Friday across portions of the outlook area.
Most area rivers will remain in or near flood for the next
several days.
