This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk tonight
DISCUSSION...
An additional wave of showers and embedded thunderstorms will
develop this evening and overnight. Cloud to ground lightning, in
addition to brief, locally heavy rainfall will be the main
threats with this activity.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.
Wednesday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Flooding Risk.
Thursday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
There is a threat for a few strong to severe thunderstorms on
Wednesday afternoon and evening, mainly for locales near and south
of I-80. Strong wind gusts will be the main risk, although a
tornado or two will also be possible. The threat for strong to
marginally severe storms will spread to locations roughly east of
I-55 on Thursday.
While widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated on Wednesday
and Thursday, thunderstorms could produce locally heavier amounts
which could lead to some renewed river rises and additional
flooding through the end of the week. At this time the heaviest
rain may miss the area to the northwest, but many areas will see
amounts in excess of 1 inch through midweek.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 30 mph.
