Wednesday Night...
Limited Snow Risk.
Friday and Saturday...
Elevated Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Snow Risk.
Sunday...
Limited Excessive Cold Risk.
Limited River Flooding Risk Due to Ice Jams.
DISCUSSION...
Heavy wet snow is expected across northwest Illinois Tuesday.
Several inches of wet snow accumulation is expected to lead to
hazardous and difficult travel through the day, especially
northwest of the I-55 corridor. The snow is expected to mix with
or change to rain southeast of Interstate 55 during the day, then
change back to all snow Tuesday evening. Some low drifting snow
will be possible Wednesday morning as northwest winds gust to 40
mph.
Another winter storm is likely to impact the area Friday into
Saturday. Several inches of accumulating snow in combination with
strong winds may again result in difficult travel across the
area into Saturday.
River ice is expected to rapidly build up on area rivers Sunday
into early next week as a much colder arctic airmass moves into
the area. This will bring a threat for ice jam related flooding
on area rivers into early next week.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
