...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM MONDAY TO 9 AM CST
TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
up to one inch and ice accumulations around one tenth of an
inch.
* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.
* WHEN...From 5 AM Monday to 9 AM CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Difficult travel conditions are possible, especially
on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions are likely to
impact both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first round of precipitation will begin
as a light snow and sleet mix early Monday morning, before
transitioning to a period of freezing drizzle in the afternoon.
A second more impactful period of precipitation is expected
Monday evening into Tuesday morning. This will fall mainly in
the form of freezing rain Monday night, though could mix with or
even change to a period of wet snow into early Tuesday morning
across northwestern parts of Illinois. While air temperatures
will be warming to near freezing late Monday night, subfreezing
ground temperatures will continue to make for icy and very slick
streets and sidewalks into Tuesday morning.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Slow down and use caution while traveling. A few power outages are
possible.
