DISCUSSION...
A major winter storm will continue impacting the area through
tonight. The rain/snow mix will continue this afternoon before a
brief break this evening. Fog may develop during the break before
one last band of snow moves overhead overnight. Strong westerly
winds and blowing snow will occur with the band of snow overnight.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
Saturday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
Elevated Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Limited Snow Risk.
Sunday...
Significant Excessive Cold Risk.
Limited Snow Risk mainly eastern Porter County.
Monday and Tuesday...
Significant Excessive Cold Risk.
Wednesday and Thursday...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Blowing and drifting snow is expected in open areas on Saturday,
especially in the morning.
Wind chills of 10 to as low as 30 degrees below zero are expected
Saturday night through Wednesday morning.
River ice is expected to rapidly build up on area rivers Sunday
into early next week as a much colder arctic airmass moves into
the area. This will bring a threat for localized ice jam related
flooding on area rivers into next week.
