...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM MONDAY TO
9 AM CST TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
of up to one inch and ice accumulations around one tenth of an
inch.
* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.
* WHEN...From 5 AM Monday to 9 AM CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Difficult travel conditions are possible, especially
on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions are likely to
impact both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first round of precipitation will
begin as a light snow and sleet mix early Monday morning,
before transitioning to a period of freezing drizzle in the
afternoon. A second more impactful period of precipitation is
expected Monday evening into Tuesday morning. This will fall
mainly in the form of freezing rain Monday night, though could
mix with or even change to a period of wet snow into early
Tuesday morning across northwestern parts of Illinois. While
air temperatures will be warming to near freezing late Monday
night, subfreezing ground temperatures will continue to make
for icy and very slick streets and sidewalks into Tuesday
morning.
