This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

Elevated Snow Risk this afternoon and overnight.

DISCUSSION...

Snow, possibly mixed with rain initially, is expected to
overspread the region from south to north this afternoon and
evening. Impacts to the afternoon and evening commute are
expected due to reduced visibilities and developing slushy
accumulations on area roadways.

Snow will continue this evening and overnight with a potential for
pockets of blowing snow to develop after midnight which may
further reduce visibilities and create further challenges for the
early-morning commute on Thursday.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Thursday...
Elevated Snow Risk in the morning.
Significant Lakeshore Flood Risk northwest Indiana.
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk overnight.
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk near Lake Michigan.
Friday Morning...
Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Lingering snow will taper off from west to east through Thursday
morning with impacts due to pockets of blowing snow and reduced
visibilities to the remainder of the morning commute possible.

Strong northerly winds will build waves on Thursday into Thursday
night, causing lakeshore flooding and exacerbating beach erosion,
especially for the northwest Indiana shoreline, but also
extending back across the Cook County shoreline.

Bitterly cold conditions are expected late Thursday night into
Friday morning, with sub-zero low temperatures across much of
northern Illinois and minimum wind chill values of 10 to 20 below
zero.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
