...NOAA WEATHER RADIO MESSAGE OPERATIONAL TEST AND EVALUATION...
The National Weather Service will be conducting a NOAA Weather Radio
Upgrade Project Test. A Wireless to Wireless Operational Test and
Evaluation is scheduled from June 10, 2019 to August 2, 2019.
The NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters tested will be Rockford, KZZ-57
and Plano, KXI-58.
The NOAA Weather Radio Upgrade Project, Wireless to Wireless, is a
system developed by the National Weather Service to disseminate all
NOAA Weather Radio messages to the public from National Weather
Service Forecast Offices to NOAA Weather Radio transmitters via
wireless technology. The wireless technology is envisioned as a
future replacement of the existing analog phone lines.
During this Operational Test and Evaluation period, test messages,
as well as all operational messages, will be sent to the Rockford
and Plano NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters.
