At Chicago, the average high temperature for the spring season
was 56.4 degrees, which is 2.1 degrees below the 1981 to 2010
average. The average low temperature was 38.2 degrees, which is
0.6 degrees below normal. The mean temperature for the season was
47.3 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees below normal.
A total of 16.36 inches of precipitation was recorded during this
past spring, which is 9.56 inches above normal. There was a total
of 6.8 inches of snow recorded at Chicago, which is 1.4 inches
above normal.
Records established or tied during the spring months:
March:
* Record daily lowest maximum temperature of 12 degrees on the 4th
April:
* Tied record daily highest minimum temperature of 52 degrees on
the 8th.
May:
* Record daily precipitation of 1.92 inches on the 27th
* Wettest May on record since 1871 with 8.25 inches
Spring Records:
* 2nd wettest spring on record with 16.36 inches
At Rockford, the average high temperature was 56.9 degrees, which
is 2.9 degree below normal. The average low temperature was 37.2
degrees, which is 0.8 degrees below normal. The mean temperature
for the season was 47.1 degrees, which is 1.8 degrees below
normal.
A total of 15.28 inches of precipitation was recorded during this
past spring, which was 5.59 inches above normal. In addition, a
total of 6.7 inches of snow was recorded, which is 1.0 Inches
above normal.
