This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Flooding Risk.
Limited Non thunderstorm wind Risk late this evening and
overnight.
High Swim Risk late tonight.
DISCUSSION...
Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage through this
afternoon. While severe weather is not currently expected, slow-
moving storms today will be capable of producing gusty winds,
small hail, and locally heavy rainfall. Isolated instances of
flooding will be possible through early this evening, mainly near
the I-55 corridor.
Strong and gusty north to northwest winds will overspread the
region late tonight. High wave action will result in the
development of dangerous swimming conditions.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Elevated Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Lakeshore Flood Risk, mainly Indiana lakeshores
High Swim Risk
Friday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Saturday...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk.
Sunday through Tuesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Strong and gusty northerly winds will continue through Thursday
afternoon. As a result of the gusty winds, highs waves and strong
rip currents are expected to continue to create dangerous
swimming conditions, mostly for portions of Cook, Lake (IN) and
Porter County beaches. Conditions will improve quickly Thursday
evening as winds decrease.
Additional thunderstorm chances are possible Friday night and into
next week. Some potential for locally heavy rainfall and strong
thunderstorms exists this weekend.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 20 to 25 mph.
