600 AM CDT FOR LAKE...NORTHERN DE KALB...NORTHERN KANE...MCHENRY...
NORTHEASTERN DUPAGE...NORTHERN COOK AND SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTIES...
At 348 AM CDT, Doppler radar estimates and automated rain gauges
indicated that one to locally upwards of two inches of rain have
fallen across the advisory area. Rainfall rates vary from light to
moderate to locally heavy where thunderstorms are occurring. The
rain that has fallen and continues to fall will continue to cause
urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.
After 200 AM CDT, localized flooding was reported in Northbrook and
on the north side of Chicago.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Elgin, Waukegan, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston,
Schaumburg, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Mount Prospect,
Wheaton, Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Glenview,
Elmhurst, Lombard and Buffalo Grove.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
