...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...
* WHAT...Heavy, very wet, snow into this evening. Total snow
accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are possible. Occasional snowfall
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible.
Northeast winds will also gust as high as 35 mph late this
afternoon into this evening.
Overnight low temperatures should drop into the lower 20s,
except low 30s along the lakefront. A hard freeze is possible
where temperatures are in the lower 20s.
* WHERE...McHenry and Lake IL Counties.
* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 11 PM CDT this evening.
Heaviest snowfall rates 3 to 8 PM.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult in heavy
snowfall and gusty winds with greatly reduced visibilities.
Minor tree damage will also be possible to due to the heavy
snow and wind.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
