This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Damaging Wind Risk...up to 60 mph.
Limited Tornado Risk.
Limited Hail Risk...up to nickel size.
Elevated Non thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Lakeshore Flood Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Winds will gust to 40 to 45 mph at times today, with the most
likely areas and timing being south of Interstate 80 this morning
and south of Interstate 80 this afternoon and early this evening.
Isolated non-severe thunderstorms are possible across north
central Illinois through mid afternoon. More widespread
thunderstorms are expected to develop across northwest and
north central Illinois late this afternoon and move across the
entire outlook area this evening. Scattered severe weather from
these storms is possible, with the primary threat being strong
winds, though a few brief tornadoes are possible.
Minor lakeshore flooding will continue to be a hazard in
northeast Illinois this morning, especially north of Chicago.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
Friday...
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Fire Weather Risk.
Sunday...
Limited Snow Risk.
Tuesday and Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Wind gusts to 45 mph are possible on Friday.
The next significant storm system could bring wet snow to parts
of the area on Sunday, with accumulation possible.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed late this afternoon in north central
Illinois, and possibly points east this evening.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 70 mph.
