This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Tornado Risk.
Elevated Hail Risk...up to golfball size.
Elevated Damaging Wind Risk...up to 65 mph.
DISCUSSION...
There is potential for isolated severe storms during the late
afternoon and evening. If a few storms develop, all modes of
severe weather would be possible with large hail, damaging wind
gusts, and a threat for a tornado or two. The primary severe risk
area is northwest of a line from Dixon to Crystal Lake.
Another area of thunderstorms may move northeast into the region
late this evening and overnight. A low potential for strong and
gusty winds and small hail could accompany these storms with the
main threat for locales along and south of I-80.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Flooding Risk.
Saturday...
Elevated Fire Weather Risk.
Sunday and Monday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
The threat for showers and storms will continue on Thursday with
the highest chances shifting east of I-57 through the day. There
is a low potential for some of these storms to remain strong to
marginally severe with mainly a threat for gusty winds.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed after 4 pm this afternoon and into mid
evening across mainly northwest and north central Illinois, and
possibly overnight south of I-80.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 35 mph.
