THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR North Central Illinois… Northeast Illinois AND Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE…Tonight.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

High Swim Risk.

DISCUSSION: Gusty north to northeast winds behind the passage of a cold front is building waves on southern Lake Michigan. This will produce hazardous swimming conditions through early Saturday.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday…

Limited Flooding Risk. Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk. High Swim Risk.

Thursday…

Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION:

A cold front moving through the region Saturday night will bring a line of thunderstorms as it quickly tracks east across the region. Deep layer moisture pooling and moderate to high instability may allow some thunderstorms to produce strong, damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Some localized flooding will be possible.

Increasing northwest winds following the frontal passage will bring a chance for dangerous swim conditions to southern Lake Michigan. The greatest threat will be for the Porter County, Indiana beaches.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.

GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:

Moving south at 20 MPH.
