This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated: Limited Tornado risk. Limited damaging wind risk...up to 60 mph. Elevated Flooding Risk. High Swim Risk
DISCUSSION…
Showers with scattered thunderstorms will continue this afternoon into tonight. These storms will produce periods of moderate to heavy rain that on top of already saturated ground will cause minor flooding and possibly flash flooding. Currently, the counties along and north of Interstate 80 in Illinois are most vulnerable for this.
Some of the afternoon and evening thunderstorms that develop south of a line from Dixon to Morris to Rensselaer this afternoon into this evening will have the potential to produce isolated severe weather. The potential threats with these storms would be brief tornadoes and damaging winds.
Strengthening easterly winds will produce high waves along the Illinois and Lake County Indiana Lake Michigan shore late today into tonight.
