…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING…
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois, including the following areas, in north central Illinois, Boone, DeKalb, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In northeast Illinois, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, McHenry, and Will.
Through Friday mid morning
Several rounds of heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms will move into the area both this morning into the mid afternoon, then again overnight. These storms have the potential to produce localized flash flooding as many locations across these areas have received significant rainfall in the past week. Rainfall amounts of 1 and a half inches up to 3 inches are expected, with localized areas up to 4 inches.
Area rivers and streams are running high, which will mean rainfall will more quickly go into runoff. Urban and small stream flooding is likely.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
