…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON…
The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
Portions of Illinois and northwest Indiana, including the following areas, in Illinois, Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, La Salle, Lake IL, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Will, and Winnebago. In northwest Indiana, Lake IN and Porter.
Until 3 PM CDT this afternoon
Periods of moderate to briefly heavy rain will continue through mid afternoon. Given the recent heavy rainfall amounts, any additional heavy rain may produce localized flash flooding.
Area rivers and streams are running high, which will means rainfall will more quickly go into runoff. Localized flooding in poor drainage areas, especially urban ones is likely.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
