This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…Early this Morning through Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated: Limited damaging wind risk...up to 60 mph. Limited Flooding Risk. Elevated Excessive Heat Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Temperatures will warm to the low to even some mid 90s today. This combined with dewpoints in the 70s will result in dangerous heat indices of 100 to 105 area wide being that this is the third consecutive day with high heat index values and lower recovery at night.
Thunderstorms are expected later this afternoon and evening. An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm is possible, with heavy rainfall also expected. Heavy rain from thunderstorms is also possible Monday night, mainly north of Interstate 80, that may lead to flash flooding.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Tuesday through Sunday.
Tuesday…
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk. Limited Flooding Risk. Limited Excessive Heat Risk.
Wednesday through Sunday…
Occasional periods of thunderstorms possible.
DISCUSSION:
Heavy rain from thunderstorms is also possible again Tuesday, mainly along and south of I-80. This may lead to flash flooding. A few stronger storms are also possible during the afternoon. Warm and muggy conditions will linger into Tuesday mainly south of I-80.
