...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 AM CDT FOR
LAKE...NORTHEASTERN OGLE...NORTHERN DE KALB...WINNEBAGO...NORTHERN
KANE...MCHENRY AND BOONE COUNTIES...
At 157 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already
fallen. A localized swath of as much as three inches of rain have
fallen from southern Winnebago County across central Boone County
into northwest McHenry County. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rockford, Waukegan, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, North Chicago,
Gurnee, Mundelein, Algonquin, Highland Park, McHenry, Belvidere,
Vernon Hills, Woodstock, Zion, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Grayslake,
Libertyville, Lake Zurich and Lake Forest.
Additional rainfall amounts of up to one inch are possible in the
warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
