...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois,
including the following areas, in north central Illinois,
Boone, De Kalb, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In
northeast Illinois, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake
IL, McHenry, and Will.
* Through late tonight
* Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage
across northern Illinois through mid morning. The stronger
storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall at times,
with rates of one to two inches per hour. Additional rainfall
totals of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts are expected
by this evening before the rain tapers from west to east. These
expected totals include some locations that received 1 to 2
inches on Saturday. The heavy rainfall over a short duration and
over locations that have experienced recent heavy rainfall may
lead to flash flooding.
* The heavy rainfall will lead to additional river rises,
potentially sharp rises, into the upcoming week, especially
across the Des Plaines, Fox, Pecatonica, and Rock river basins.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
