...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois,
including the following areas, in north central Illinois,
Boone, De Kalb, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In
northeast Illinois, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake
IL, McHenry, and Will.

* Through late tonight

* Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage early this
afternoon with heavy rainfall peaking during the afternoon and
early to mid evening. Rainfall rates of one to two inches per
hour will occur in the heaviest showers and storms. Additional
rainfall of one and a half to three inches with locally higher
amounts are expected by this evening before the rain tapers from
west to east. With rainfall from Saturday, this results in
widespread two to four inch totals for the weekend. These totals
along with heavy rainfall over a short duration and onto wet
ground may lead to flash flooding.

* The heavy rainfall will lead to additional river rises,
potentially sharp rises, into the upcoming week, especially
across the Des Plaines, Fox, Pecatonica, and Rock river
basins.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
