...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 AM CDT FOR
LAKE...NORTHEASTERN OGLE...NORTHERN DE KALB...WINNEBAGO...NORTHERN
KANE...MCHENRY AND BOONE COUNTIES...
At 409 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain have exited the warned area.
However, light to moderate rain will continue through 600 AM CDT.
Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches had occurred since last
evening, with a localized swath of 3 to locally 5 inches across
portions of central Boone and northwest McHenry counties. Flash
flooding may be ongoing within the warned area.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rockford, Waukegan, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, North Chicago,
Gurnee, Mundelein, Algonquin, Highland Park, McHenry, Belvidere,
Vernon Hills, Woodstock, Zion, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Grayslake,
Libertyville, Lake Zurich and Lake Forest.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
