THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM MONDAY TO 9 AM CST
WEDNESDAY. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED. THIS
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IS IN EFFECT
FROM 3 AM SUNDAY TO 6 AM CST MONDAY. THE WIND CHILL WATCH IS NO
LONGER IN EFFECT.

FOR THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...


* TIMING...3 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 AM MONDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...2 TO 4 INCHES ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA WITH A
SWATH OF 3 TO 5 INCHES LIKELY EITHER SIDE OF A DIXON TO KANKAKEE
ILLINOIS LINE BEFORE ENDING BY MID-MORNING SUNDAY. ADDITIONAL SNOW
SHOWERS LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING MAY PRODUCE UP TO AN
ADDITIONAL INCH OF SNOW.

* WINDS...WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH
WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* MAIN IMPACTS...ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL MAKE ROADS SNOW COVERED
AND SLIPPERY BEGINNING PREDAWN AND CONTINUING THROUGH SUNDAY
MORNING. GUSTY WINDS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND SUNDAY NIGHT WILL
CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WHICH ALONG WITH
A PERIOD OF SNOW SHOWERS SUNDAY EVENING MAY LEAD TO NEAR
BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES SUNDAY NIGHT...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN
AND RURAL AREAS. TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS.

* TIMING...3 AM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH 9 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* WIND CHILL VALUES...35 BELOW TO 45 BELOW ZERO.

* OTHER IMPACTS...FROST BITE AND HYPOTHERMIA CAN OCCUR IN A MATTER
OF MINUTES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE WIND WILL COMBINE WITH VERY COLD
AIR TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT
IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE
NOT TAKEN.
