...STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS AND A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW TODAY...
SOUTHERLY WINDS THAT ARE ALREADY GUSTING UP TO 30 MPH EARLY THIS
MORNING WILL FURTHER INCREASE BY LATE MORNING INTO THE EARLY
AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED SPEEDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH...WITH
GUSTS OF 40 TO 45 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG WILL MAKE TRAVEL
DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES ON EAST-WEST ROADWAYS.
LIGHT WEIGHT UNSECURED OBJECTS MAY BE BLOWN AROUND.
WHILE THE WINDS INCREASE...A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW COMBINED WITH
THE STRONG WINDS MAY RESULT IN SHARPLY REDUCED VISIBILITY IN SNOW
THIS AFTERNOON. ANY REMAINING LOOSE SNOW IN OPEN AREAS COULD ALSO
BE BLOWN AROUND MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS UP TO
ONE INCH OR SO ARE ANTICIPATED NEAR THE WISCONSIN BORDER...TAPERING
TO UNDER A HALF INCH SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR. WHILE
THE SNOW WILL BE WETTER IN NATURE DUE TO TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW
TO MID 30S AT ONSET...SLIPPERY SPOTS ARE POSSIBLE ON UNTREATED
SURFACES DUE TO THE VERY COLD GROUND TEMPERATURES.
STAY TUNED TO LATEST FORECAST UPDATES AND PLAN ON GIVING YOURSELF
SOME EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION IF YOU ARE TRAVELING
THIS AFTERNOON.
