This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited damaging wind risk...up to 50 to 55 mph.
Limited Flooding Risk north and west of I-55.
DISCUSSION...
A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move into the
region later this evening. Storms are expected to be on a
weakening trend as they move through the area. Some stronger to
near severe wind gusts will be possible, however, as thunderstorms
approach the Illinois and Wisconsin state line. In addition,
locally heavy rainfall may lead to isolated instances of minor
flooding tonight mainly north and west of I-55.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Saturday.
Tuesday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk mainly south and east of I-55.
Limited Flooding Risk.
Wednesday and Thursday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Sunday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Additional thunderstorms will occur ahead of a cold front on Tuesday.
Higher confidence for storms is along and southeast of Interstate 55.
Widespread severe weather is not expected, but a few storms could have
briefly gusty winds and small hail. Better coverage of storms may
be favored farther south toward southern Illinois and the Ohio
Valley.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed late this evening. Widespread severe weather is
not expected, but reports of gusty winds are appreciated.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the southeast at 35 to 40 mph.
