...Light to Moderate Snow Likely Tonight Thru Tuesday Morning...
Rain is expected to transition over to all snow across northern
Illinois later tonight, mainly after midnight. A period of light
to moderate snow is then expected through the early morning hours
on Tuesday. At this time, the highest amounts of one to three
inches are expected to fall closer to the Illinois and Wisconsin
border with amounts tapering off further to the south. Confidence
is high with the occurrence of snow tonight across northern
Illinois, however, there is lower confidence to the extent of the
intensity of the snow. It is possible for a period of heavier snow
to occur, and if this were to occur, then snowfall amounts could
be slightly higher.
Nonetheless, current forecast amounts could be enough to impact
the morning commute across far northern Illinois. Those with
travel plans along and north of I-88 tonight into Tuesday morning
should continue to monitor the forecast, and be prepared for
possible snow covered roads and reduced visibility.
