DISCUSSION:

A period of light snow is likely for areas south of I-80 Sunday morning into the early afternoon. A dusting up to an inch of snow may fall in these areas.

Bitterly cold air for this time of year will return to the region later Sunday and persist through Tuesday. Wind chills late Sunday night into Monday morning may drop to around 20 below zero in northern Illinois.

These cold temperatures will create favorable conditions for river ice formation. Increased river ice may cause ice jams with little notice, especially along the Rock, Fox, and Kankakee Rivers.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
